These magical weapons have a certain number of charges, indicating how many times the effect can be activated. This means that whenever a successful strike is made on a target, the effect will also activate and hit the target.

Weapons enchanted with a Soul Gem will cast the enchanted spell s on "strike". The exceptions to this rule are Silver and Daedric weapons, which do not have to be enchanted to inflict damage on ethereal enemies. Normal weapons cannot be used to attack certain ethereal creatures, such as ghosts and wraiths. Keep in mind, it is possible to deal physical damage without a weapon, through the Hand-to-Hand skill. Due to Oblivion's leveling system, rarity for higher end items is nearly nonexistent. Otherwise, weight is correlated with quality. While identical in appearance and weight, Dremora equipment is vastly inferior in quality, equivalent to steel. One point that is frequently confused is Dremora and Daedric equipment. These nearly always go in a consistent order of quality: if a dagger of one material is better than a dagger of another, then armor of the first material will also be superior to the second. Weapons and armor in Cyrodiil come in an array of materials. The staff can be used regardless of level or skills. The main exception is a staffwhich is not used as a melee weapon, but rather one that propels magical attacks towards a target. Damage and speed of a weapon is determined by its strength, the material it is made of, the weightand the skill of the character wielding it. Weapons are made from a variety of materials, such as common Steelto less common Glass. In oblivion, reaching perfection is best, which means you can do everything, warrior/mage/stealth/archery/etc, then stealth, then mage.A Weapon is a piece of equipment that can be used to deal damage to any person or creature. since latter spells in some schools are lackluster. In both games, almost all playstyles are viable but in skyrim mage is probably the weakest playstyle. the 30x can kill so many enemies in one hit. Skyrim you get a perk where you can get all enemies to untarget you on crouching and 30x sneak attack multiplier with daggers when wearing certain gloves. Add enchantments and poisons to get easily over 200 points of damage a hit. With a ~30 damage weapon you'd get 180 damage. Get a set with 120% chameleon and just sneak everwhere, all attacks are now basically criticals and the chances of enemies targetting you is low. In Oblivion, just raid oblivion gates to get 4 sigil stones of 30% chameleon (save scrubbing needed to save time). If we are talking playstyle then I feel stealth is the most OPed in both Oblivion and Skyrim. The way sneak attack criticals work are insane, more so later on.

But you can't use the stock mage, make your own mage. Originally posted by Brandybuck:Mages are the best in any of the games.
